PATCHOULI – THE PLANT
Scientific name: Pogostemum Cablin.
Description: Shrub of the Lamiaceae family.
Origins: Tropical zones in Asia.
History: Many references about popular medicinal use of the plant: in China against nausea, headache, common cold, diarrhea and abdominal pain, while in Malaysia and Japan as an antidote to snake poison.
PATCHOULI – \”BIOLOGOS\” ESSENTIAL OIL
Technique: Extracted from the dried leaves of the plant through steam distillation.
Scent: Exotic, mildly spicy, sweet, and colour dark orange.
Country: Indonesia.
QUALITIES
Antiseptic, anti-oxidant, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, relaxing, antihistamine.
Aromatherapy uses:
- Inflammation, eczema, skin and allergy disorders, abscess, cuts, wounds, scars.
- As vasculostimulant, it fights against varicose veins, heavy feet and edema.
- Provides relief from insect bites.
- Effective against symptoms of menopause (hot flashes, sweating), nervous breakdown, depression, stress, hypertension and mental strain.
- It helps regenerate the cells of the dry, hardened and chapped skin (heels, elbows) by softening it, and it fights against wrinkles and ageing.
Combine with: Essential oils of Bergamot, Lavender, Ginger, Pine, Chamomile, Geranium, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Lemongrass, Rose, Neroli, Nutmeg.
